Traditional Roof Construction for Pitched Roofs
There are two basic methods of pitched roof construction the first is ‘cut roof‘ which is a traditional method of cutting the timber on site and building up the roof using rafters, ridge boards, joists and purlins. You will need to get a quote from us as it is important to know the exact details being determined by the size of the roof you need and the size of timbers etc.
The second type of traditional roof construction is a ‘truss roof‘. What is used here are factory made trusses which would need to be delivered to the site complete and then just erected. Please note that current day building regulations require detailed calculations need done of the stresses, timber size etc. that will be used in your roof construction. Factory made trusses tend to be standard practice where all this can be worked out on a computer.
Traditional Roof Construction using Traditional Roof Tiles
Traditional Roof Construction work is quite a complex field and involves many calculations regarding the strength of the materials used. You want your roof to withstand very high wind speeds and snow loading and so your roof has to be designed to carry the covering, eg the traditional roof tiles that you want to put on it. Roofing in the UK is generally covered with small sections like tiles and slates because they are easier to get up onto the roof. There are four main types of traditional roof tile that are popular with customers, pan tiles, plain roof tiles, roman roof tiles and new generation roof tools plus there is slate appearance roof tiles.
We are members of numerous roofing and building industry organisations which reassures our customers Midlothian Roofing Services are totally committed to providing a professional high quality repair service.
